Betty Wiechert never dreamed she would spend time in prison or that she would learn so much from the experience. Yet, just talking about it brings tears to her eyes. Affectionately known as Grandma Betty, her cookies are almost as famous as she is at the Noble Correctional Institution. At age 87, Betty became a volunteer. Lester works as a physician at Tansen Hospital, a mission hospital run by United Mission to Nepal. Deborah is a coordinator of expatriate services for the hospital. Early Response Team training is scheduled for Saturday, May 4 at Groveport UMC. This training, sponsored by the West Ohio Conference in cooperation with the Capital Area South District, will begin at 8:00 am. It’s a two-hour drive roundtrip from Westwood UMC in Cincinnati to Dayton Correctional Institution. But that didn’t deter five Westwood UMC women from saying “yes” to a new Life Builders team.
