October 30th, Findlay, OH
Sometimes you have to break out of your current ways of doing things in order to break through to a better future.
In partnership with the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction’s Office of Reentry, the Summit is designed to inspire, equip, and engage you in more meaningful and impactful ministry with members, families, and neighbors who are living through an incarceration or reentry experience.
We are excited to have some of the region’s leading prison ministry leaders and reentry professionals presenting these next-level Breakout Sessions at the Summit!
+ Mentoring for Life Change inside Correctional Institutions
Gary Croft, Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (ODRC) Faith-Based Reentry Coordinator, leads this session on best practices for effective faith-based mentoring inside our local correctional institutions. In addition, a panel discussion will engage participants with a Restored Citizen who has graduated from the Life Builders program and volunteers who have served as Life Builders mentors.
+ Strengthening Bonds and Creating Connections in Families
Led by Darryl Graves, ODRC Southwest Region Reentry Administrator, this breakout session offers practical help and expert guidance on supporting caregivers raising children with incarcerated parents. Tools and information to help families remain connected to their incarcerated loved ones will be provided.
+ Creating Citizen Circles for Successful Reentry
Northwest Region Reentry Coordinators Lisa Fernandez and Chris Stewart present an effective first-step for developing a community-based support program for their neighbors returning home. A panel of Citizen Circle participants, also, provide perspective on the impact of Citizen Circles in their own lives and the life of the community.
+ Connecting with Coalitions for Community Transformation
No one can do it alone. In this session, Northwest regional reentry leaders Tom Luettke, Sandy Manfort, and Precia Stuby discuss how mutual support between faith communities and local reentry coalitions leads to safer and healthier communities for all citizens. Faith leaders learn how to engage with other organizations and groups serving people impacted by incarceration so that no one is doing the heavy lifting of reentry alone.
+ Volunteer and PREA Training*
Angelia Cleveland, ODRC Assistant Religious Services Administrator and Statewide Volunteer Coordinator, conducts a two-part session covering Volunteer and Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) training for anyone volunteering inside correctional or APA facilities. The Volunteer Training provides an understanding of the Institution’s basic security and operational requirements and expectations of the Volunteer and Volunteer Standard of Conduct. PREA Training provides an understanding of Federal mandated laws and Ohio Department of Rehabilitation & Correction polices pertaining to PREA. *Participants must attend both sessions.
The Summit is the largest one-day prison/reentry ministry equipping conference in Northwest Ohio.
