1.  Basic Course - Register Here

              Leader: Nancy Byrd, CLM

This course is the foundation for all other Leading & Learning courses. In this course you are encouraged to discover and employ personal spiritual gifts as God intended. Participants are invited to consider the importance of exercising servant leadership, developing future leaders, remaining rooted in  consistent spiritual practices, and being part of a group that holds members accountable in their discipleship. This course offers guidelines for best practices as a church leader and in mission and ministry in the community and daily life.

2.  Go Preach - Register Here

Leader: Rev. Barbara Cooper

This course is designed for those who have not completed formal preaching training, for pastors seeking a basic refresher course, and for others who are called upon to preach in a pastor's absence.  Go Preach participants will also need to meet Saturday, September 1st @ Hope UMC to finish delivering their sermons.

3. Environmental Stewardship - Register Here

Leader:  Robert Downs

If you care for God’s Creation and are called to guide your church’s response to environmental crises, we invite you to attend the first offering of the Environmental Stewardship Advanced Course.  Intended to develop a cadre of UMC laypersons to lead local church efforts in caring for the environment and insuring ecojustice, this course is open to any layperson in the Conference regardless of their previous association with the Certified Lay Servant program.  The course will address the theological underpinnings for environmental stewardship as well as practical behaviors for sustainable living individually, as a church and in community; reference for the course is Climate Justice edited by Pat Watkins and available through the UMW.  Cost is $35 for materials, lunch and snacks.  If you already have the book from UMW or borrowed from a participant of Mission U in 2016 or 2017, choose the registration without the book. For further information contact Robert Downs at 937-901-6777 or bobdowns [at] sbcglobal.net.
