Disaster Recovery Team

Sisters and Brothers of Miami Valley,
As our clergy and lay members prepare to head to Annual Conference, we in Miami Valley do so knowing that many will be continuing to respond to the tornadoes that tore through our Valley on May 27-28.
This is an ongoing disaster and needs are changing daily if not hourly.  There is also limited capacity to store donations.  Please make contact with the local site/contact person before arranging to donate time or supplies!

Items that will be needed in the coming days and weeks are:
• Personal  hygiene items
• Perishable and nonperishable foods: fruit, snacks, ready-to-eat foods
• Baby supplies: diapers, wipes, formula
• Cleaning supplies: paper towels, soaps, trash bags, etc.
• Clothing

As many folks in the area are still without water and electricity ,there is also need of showers and places to clean clothing .  If you have showers in your church and/or would help people with laundry at a local laundromat, please let us know.
Your monetary contribution through UMCOR/West Ohio Disaster Relief will be utilized here in West Ohio: https://www.westohioumc.org/civicrm/contribute/transact?reset=1&id=82
Please continue to check the MIV website (www.miamivalleydistrict.com), the WOC website (www.westohioumc.org)  and the Miami Valley District Facebook page (www.facebook.com/miamivalleydistrict/) for up to date information.  We will send weekly emails also.-

The purpose of the Miami Valley Disaster Recovery Team (MIVDRT) ministry is to organize and equip volunteers who serve others and share Christ when an unexpected disaster or crisis has damaged the security of individuals, families, and communities. The Miami Valley DRT demonstrates the love and hope found in Christ through practical and significant acts of kindness, mercy, witness, and care.
