TITLE:  CHILDHOOD MINISTRY SPECIALIST

REPORTS TO:  Lead Pastor

POSITION TYPE:  Part-time, non-exempt (.1 FTE)

HOURS:  8:30 am – 12:00 pm Sundays

WAGE/SALARY RANGE:  $10.25 per hour to start, based on qualifications and experience

SUMMARY OF POSITION & RESULTS EXPECTED:  An effective Infant & Child Ministry Specialist will provide excellent care and early Christian education for infants, children and their families through the Nursery and Sunday School ministry of the Church.

SPIRITUAL GIFTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • This leader must be a growing Christian with a desire to serve God through the care and education of infants and children, and a commitment to the mission and vision of Concord Church.
  • This leader should have experience in infant care and early childhood education.
  • This leader must work well with others.
  • Associate Degree or B.A. in Early Childhood Education or related field is desirable but not required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Nursery:
    • Provide safe, secure, and loving care for infants and toddlers during Sunday worship and other services or events as scheduled with the Lead Pastor
    • Arrive 15-20 minutes before each service or event begins, and provide gracious hospitality for children and their families as they arrive in the Nursery
    • Engage infants and toddlers in early childhood Christian education by telling Bible stories, playing/singing children’s worship music, and other age-appropriate games and activities
    • Oversee volunteer Nursery Assistants
    • Ensure Nursery is clean and orderly before leaving, including removal of all trash to outside dumpster

 

  • Children’s Church/Sunday School:
    • Prepare lesson plans and materials for one-room Sunday School model ministry for children from pre-school through elementary
    • Serve as primary classroom instructor and oversee volunteer Sunday School Assistants
    • Communicate and coordinate with Lead Pastor in curriculum selection and procurement of classroom supplies and lesson materials
    • Ensure classroom is clean and orderly before leaving, including removal of all trash to outside dumpster
    • Ensure education wing restrooms are clean and orderly before leaving, including removal of all trash to outside dumpster

 

  • Notify Lead Pastor by telephone at least 24 hours in advance if unable to perform duties as scheduled
  • Perform other tasks congruent with the nature and goals of this position, as directed by the Pastor for the good of the Church
  • Adhere to Safe Sanctuary Policy and Procedures (including consent to criminal background screening)
