Creating a “Culture of Call”

Recommended for:
Local Lay Servant Ministers who have completed the Basic Course and wish to become certified, or current Lay Servant Ministers or Lay Speakers in need of a refresher course or continuing education credit (CEU).

As a Certified Lay Servant, you may continue to serve within your local church in all the same capacities-local care giving, leading small groups and devotionals with the added leadership and skills needed for this role.

Note: Lay Speakers who wish to provide pulpit support are required to complete necessary courses and be interviewed by the district committee on Lay Servant Ministries as a “Lay Speaker.” The spiritual gifts for preaching are not present in every person and those with this gift who receive the recommended training will be better equipped for this ministry.

Coursework:
Many choices of classes and refresher courses are available for certification

Creating a “Culture of Call”
Pastors are called. Lay Servants are called. Every Christian is called; but not every church member or Christian understands that. This experience will lead us in understanding the nature of “call,” to reflect on our own call, and to help create a “culture of call” in the congregations we serve. The primary resource for this training event is Os Guinness’ book The Call.
