A change of appointment raises many questions and stirs many emotions for the pastor and the congregation. To help churches and pastors navigate these questions and emotions in a healthy way, we are offering an opportunity for pastors and churches in transition.
Once a congregation and their pastor say goodbye well, they are much better prepared to say hello well. Therefore, the Ohio River Valley District and the Miami Valley District are partnering to hold a training event called The Right Start: Ministry in a New Setting for newly appointed pastors, staff parish and/or leadership team members.
This day long training event will be led by Foothills District Superintendent, Rev. Dr. Dennis Miller and will include topics such as:
- Ending well and helping your successor start well
- Building relationships
- Stages of the move
- A six month vision
- Practical tips and techniques for a smooth transition.
Please join us for The Right Start on Wednesday May 31st from 10:00am-3:00pm at Middletown Christ UMC, 700 S. Marshall Road, Middletown, OH 45044.
Attendance at these events is highly encouraged. We hope that you will find a way to be present for this very important event that is sure to help create a strong foundation for the relationship between a pastor and congregation.
You may register for this event by clicking on the Register Here link, below; by calling the district office at 937-529-2320 or emailing ohiorivervalley [at] wocumc.org (m)miamivalley [at] wocumc.org. Lunch will be provided for The Right Start at no cost to you.
