District Youth Opportunities
"Do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." - Matthew 19:14
All across the Miami Valley District a churches are mobilizing to insure a God-filled future. Leaders are taking the initiative to trust God and THRIVING. Ministry to our children and youth is a critical foundation. Did you know that well over 90% of all who make a faith commitment in their life, do so well before they turn 18 years of age? Yet, children and youth ministry is often one of the most under-funded and over-looked ministries. When churches are in crisis so many other things always take precedence. We, however, can't afford not to give some of our prime attention to it. So, if you are looking for...
· A jump start in youth and children's ministry,
· Resources to help you get started,
· Or a strategy that will help empower and engage youth and youth leaders
... to be all that they can become for Christ, Mike Nygren, currently the director of the Idea Factory in Troy and former West Ohio Youth Ministry Consultant, is willing to journey with you and your team in this process. Mike began in youth ministry in 1971 in a small United Methodist Church in Maryland where he and his wife were the 'totally ill-equipped volunteer leaders' yet passionate to make youth ministry happen within the church. A nearly life-long ministry friend, he has helped me tremendously over the years and can, I believe, as well help you.
To sign up for, or for more details about any of the events below, contact Mike Nygren at mike@soustudies.com.

| Leaderquest - Ultimate Junior High Leadership Challenge
July 22-24th
Leaderquest is a faith-based, two night, three-day, overnight, camp experience that promises to be an exciting and rewarding time. This “Ultimate Junior High Leadership Challenge” is focused on educating and engaging students in leadership training that leads to service-learning initiatives in the Troy community. The camp is designed using many of the interactive training and teaching concepts seen on American Idol, the Apprentice, and the Amazing Race. Leaderquest centers on students being randomly selected for teams that will compete throughout the camp. Each day the teams receive a series of personal and team challenges to be solved; some within hours, and others during the duration of the camp. The culmination of the camp is a community event designed by the students. Throughout the camp the students will make use of their predetermined 'life lines' that they will consult with to seek wisdom as their team vies to be the best. Each day the teams will be evaluated by a panel of judges to help process the day’s activities, their ability to work as a team and their plans for the next day. The ultimate goal of this camp is for students to grow in spiritual maturity and use and develop their God given leadership skills and talents. This adventure is designed for churches to send a team of one adult and at least two teens. (Designed for incoming sixth-eight grade students) |
